History

Manufactured by the Canon Camera Co. The Snappy 20 and Snappy 50 were 35mm viewfinder camera introduced in 1982.
The Snappy 20 we a fix focus camera that was available in several colors. It featured an electronically controlled exposure system. The Snappy 50 added an active autofocus with a solid-state near-infrared beam and was only available in black. Both had a built-in flash.
The “’84” was a special edition of the Snappy 20. The 1984 Summer Olympics logo and “Los Angeles ‘84” are on the front of the camera body, which is red, white, and blue. The film door on the back of the “’84” featured 23 “international stick figures” of some of the major sporting events of the game.
Made of plastic, many of the cameras experienced a problem with the film door latch breaking off and this became the most common repair (and reason for return) of these cameras.
