This attractive, contemporary PETG (plastic) solar lamp base fits the following glass insulators:

  • Hemingray-9
  • Hemingray-10
  • Whitall Tatum №9

It embraces a unique, modern, industrial, techno look, perfect for your yard, deck or patio.
A 4" (optional) ground stake is included.
The base light uses a 1.2 lumens color changing LED (see video)
Available in 3 styles:

  • BYOI - Bring you own insulator. Base only and does not include a glass insulator
  • Solar Base with Hemingray-9 clear glass insulator
  • Solar Base with Hemingray-10 clear glass insulator

Note: The lens “sits” on the base, there is no clamp (I recommend a little silicon to secure the lens to the base)

History

The Hemingray 9 was a very popular pony style insulator, designed for rural telephone lines. These were produced in mass quantities, and can commonly be found in aqua, clear and ice blue. Other colors are generally less common and more desirable. This style was later replaced by the smaller CD 107 because it used less glass and was generally more robust.
The Hemingray No.10 is a common style known as an exchange line insulator. Around 1914, the practice of using twisted wire pairs instead of two drop-wires created the need for this style. The wire grooves are close together to accommodate the twisted wire pair.
